TOSRAMKHOLA COMMITS FOR OPEN DEFECATION FREE VDC DECLARATION

Tosramkhola VDC of Sindhuli District has made the decision to become an open defecation free area (ODF) by March 2012. This decision was made during the VDC level strategic planning workshop chaired by Jhilli Bahadur Khadka, VDC secretary and Chairperson of the Village WASH coordination committee (V-WASH CC) on 13 December 2011. A total of 90 participants comprising of the V-WASH CC members, WASH users committee representatives, political party representatives, social workers and local elites were part of this workshop facilitated by NEWAH. 

During the programme Kumar Silwal, Regional Manager of NEWAH Central and Western Regional Office (CWRO) expressed, “The sanitation campaign has come from the people of Tosramkhola so its success relies on the effective implementation of the programme and the community people’s commitment.” He also expressed his wish for a successful campaign.

The participants considered the programme to have achieved positive results and stated their commitment to support the VDC ODF campaign. Khadka also requested all present to effectively support and promote the campaign of their VDC.
